GOODBYE GAY MEADOW BOOK
Goodbye Gay Meadow was self designed and published in 2007 by Matthew Ashton and won the Best Illustrated Title in the British Sports Book Awards in 2008.
With an emphasis on quality and something to serve as a fitting reminder to the old home of Shrewsbury Town Football Club, Gay Meadow, produced in hard back, the coffee table book was printed by one of the world's best printing companies in Singapore.
Containing 256 pages, images are accompianed by memories and tales from football fans accross the globe. The pictures come from a collection of photographs that Matthew Ashton captured of Gay Meadow over the last 20 years with others scourced from picture libraries, with the vast majority being published for the first time. With images from 1930 until the last ever game at Gay Meadow, the unique character of this picturesque football ground was captured for ever more.
